About the Author
Valerie Neal is curator for human spaceflight in the Space Shuttle and International Space Station era at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. Before joining the Smithsonian, she worked with NASA on early shuttle missions. She now curates exhibitions at the NASM and oversees more than 1,500 artifacts, principal among them the orbiter Discovery, which is housed in the NASM's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in northern Virginia. She lives in Washington, D.C.

27 years of Discovery

This is a small but extremely complete book that covers the 27 year career of the Discovery space shuttle. There are pages covering the missions, which include crews, mission time, orbits, altitude, EVAS, spacewalk time and landing site. There are plenty of colour photos that enhance and add details and interest, as well as diagrams.
The Challenger and Columbia disasters are brought up and also the changes that occurred during Discovery's space time. The final mission of Discovery - its trip and flight to the Udvar-Hazy are additionally included.
The book is done in an easy to read format for many ages. Even younger children will enjoy the photos. It is an interesting addition to anyone's collection of books on space exploration.

THis is a really nice book also it has alot of pictures and stats on the mission such as the length of the mission and flight and things. i highly recommend this book also love to get the one about endeavour also they make a good addition to a space fans collection! Had a great buying experience!

My son loves everything space and space shuttle, so this is a perfect gift for him. It includes everything you ever wanted to know about the shuttle Discovery! Great photos and info. Highly recommend to any history lover or space enthusiast.
